Description

MAKING CREATIVE JOURNALS. (7156. L2. 211) A Creative Journal is an innovative way of collating your personal thoughts, ideas and imagery. It is a place to practice your art and to hone your skills, and a place to combine your writing with your visual art. In this twelve week course you will produce two journals – one will be a commercially available sketchbook (supplied by us) which you will adapt to create an individual journal, and the other will be a book that you will personally construct. Full tuition for book making and book binding will be an integral part of this course. You will be taught numerous techniques for paper and metal materials including tearing, layering, cutting, folding, weaving, distressing, foiling, leaf, wires, shims. You will explore colouring and texturising surfaces with piercing, joining, pleating etc. Block printing and repeat pattern, collage, 3D card structures, overprinting and collographs will all be explored to provide you with plentiful experimental techniques to include in your journal. Each journal will be based on a theme which will be informed by your research into historical, cultural and contemporary artists who specialise in making creative journals. This course can be undertaken with a view to gaining City & Guilds certification, or can equally be enjoyed simply for the practical skills that you will gain, without the need for assessment. Completed work will be exhibited in our end of year exhibition if you wish to enter it. (C&G learners will automatically have their work entered into the exhibition). Course Fee - £1140 Deposit 25% payable at booking. Payment plan of 3 monthly payments of £285 available. Please email on admin@southwestartcourses to arrange this. All refreshments are provided.
