Watercolour - 4 week course - March 2025

Four day watercolour course - Wednesday afternoons 12-4pm Day 1 Get started with watercolour painting. Learn how to plan and draw your subject, what materials you will need, and how to use them. I will provide tips and demonstrations to help you on your way including techniques and colour mixing. You will be shown how to paint washes of colour, while importantly preserving white areas in your painting. At the end of the lesson we will appraise the work achieved. Day 2 The course will continue developing the process further and will include composition aerial perspective and transferring an image from a photograph to paper. How and when to use wet-in-wet, wet- on- dry, and dry brush techniques. Mixing colour and gaining confidence using the shown techniques. At the end of the lesson we will appraise the work achieved. Day 3 Work on a subject of your own choice demonstrating your understanding of techniques with one to one support from your tutor, with recaps where necessary. Day 4 Learners will produce a finished piece of work from their chosen subject using demonstrated methods, refining their final painting. In conclusion learners will have completed a small finished painting or several smaller studies showing the acquired knowledge throughout the course. The above itinerary maybe subject to change, depending on ability and experience of the group. Learners to bring their own equipment. We have items in stock in our shop. There is on-road parking in the road opposite or in The Avenue where there is a walk-way to the studios. Coldharbour pay and display carpark is a short walk. You are welcome to pull into the yard in order to unload before parking.
